Hello Bulldog Families,

It hardly seems possible but we are just finishing our fourth week of school!  I wanted to make sure to update you on some new developments that are occurring at BVMS.

  • Clubs - There is still time to sign up to participate in a club!  We have added three new clubs to the roster for students to select from:  Math Counts, Coding and Debate.  Take a look at the club descriptions here and sign up to join in on the fun.  Making connections is one of our four core values and getting involved in a club is an easy way to make those connections!

  • Back to School Night - Our Back to School Night is scheduled for this Wednesday, September 16th.  We have built out an evening that we hope will be informative and meaningful for our families.  Here is what you can expect:

5:00 - The evening begins with information from our Administrative Team.  Here is the link for this portion of the evening.  This link will cover the Administrative and Technology Pop-Up portions of the evening.

5:15 - Mrs. Gabreski, our Technology TOSA will be hosting a parent technology pop-up providing our families with information on how they might support their child.  Please take a moment to fill out this quick survey so that we can customize this session to what the majority of our families need.

5:50 - Quick break to prepare for meeting your teachers

6:00 - 7:30 - Meeting with teachers and hearing about all of the great things that are and will be happening in your child’s classrooms this year.  Teachers will be sending each of our families links to copy and paste into this organizer to make the evening simple.  Have your child help you fill it out before the meetings begin.

7:30 - The evening concludes!

For those students who have two households, I will be sending another email to parents only with instructions on how both parents can access the links without having to utilize student BHUSD email addresses.

  • Our Awesome PTA has planned several informative and fun evenings for our families over the next few weeks;

Wednesday, September 23rd - An evening of Teen Digital Safety featuring Jonathan Cristall, Esq, author of “What They Don’t Teach Teens”.  This event begins at 7:00 pm.  More information can be found on our website or in your weekly BVMS newsletter!

    Wednesday, September 30 - 7th-Grade Parent Social

    Thursday, October 1 - 8th-Grade Parent Social

Our 6th grade parent social last week was such a huge success and a lot of fun that we thought it would be great to hold them for our other grade levels as well.  Watch your email and the newsletter for more information and the links to these events!

I know that things seem to be more tense these days with the skies turning orange and the political fever heating up across our country.  It is so important to remember that in these times, we have so much more that we share in common than different.  We are a community with many ideas, beliefs, and perspectives but we all want what is best for kids and on that foundation we come together as a village.  Enjoy your weekend and I do look forward to the time that we can all be back together at 200 S. Elm Drive!

All my best,

Kevin Allen
