Friday, December 11 at 8:45am meet Ashley M. Leger, the paleontologist who will share info about fossils found under Wilshire Blvd.

Known as “The Mammoth Girl", Dr. Ashley Leger is a paleontologist working in Los Angeles on the Purple Line Subway construction. Dr. Leger has dug for dinosaurs in Wyoming, mammoths in South Dakota, and mosasaurs in Missouri before coming to California to dig up Ice Age animals under Wilshire Blvd. There has been a treasure trove of fossils found during subway construction, including everything from snails to whales and all the Ice Age animals you can think of!
Dr. Leger has a bachelor's degree in Geology and and Ph.D. in Vertebrate Paleontology, but she actually decided she wanted to be a paleontologist when she was 7 years old. She cannot wait to answer your paleontology questions, and wants you to remember to always Follow Your Dreams!
Here are a couple links to articles/videos that CBS did on the Purple Line fossils.
