Black History Month
BVMS PTA in support of Black History Month has organized a special event for our Bulldogs to stand on the shoulders of our successful Horace Mann & Beverly Vista alumni. These four giants were a part of the Beverly High Integration Program that was created by Beverly Hills first African American teacher, Lyle Suter.
Our guests will be speaking about their experience going through the integration program, how the black and Jewish community came together during a dark time in history, and friendships and successes that came from those communities working together. They went through the civil rights era, the end of Jim Crow, and lived out the US Supreme Court's most historic ruling “Brown vs. Board of Education” that ended segregation in public schools.
