2021

September 24, 2020

Greetings BVMS Class of 2021 Families!  We’re honored to be your 8th Grade Transition co-Chairs and to introduce you to the 8th Grade Graduation Committee.

It’s hard to believe that our 8th graders will soon be completing their time at Beverly Vista Middle School and moving on to high school!  We are all looking forward to watching our children receive their diplomas on June 9, 2021 and celebrating this important milestone with family and friends.

Although this year is unique and the traditional way that we celebrate may be uncertain, we still want this to be an exciting time for everyone!  We are committed to working together with the administration team to create a graduation experience that honors the achievement of our students while maintaining the safety of our community.

To celebrate this milestone in our students’ lives, the 8th Grade Graduation Committee is now in the process of organizing special activities connected to graduation. All events, with the exception of the graduation ceremony, are funded and supported entirely through the efforts of the 8th Grade Graduation committee and 8th grade parents’ donations.

8th Grade Graduation Committee will support the following:

    • Gowns: measure kids, distribute and collect after Graduation
    • Yearbooks: distribution & signing
    • Fundraising Events: organize fundraising events
      • Examples: spirit wear, food sales, car wash, talent show, restaurant nights
    • Graduation Luncheon
    • Graduation Party immediately following the ceremony if possible  (venue, food/drink, entertainment, decor)
    • Video Montage of Class of 2021
    • BHHS Transition meetings, open house, info packets & 9th grade social
    • BHHS Swag Bag (examples TBD: sweatshirt, pajama pants, portable charger)
    • Photographer & Videographer (for ceremony & party, diploma picture & video)
    • Teacher Gift & Class Gift to BVMS
    • Fun Grad Day

To cover the cost of all these activities and keep costs down (so that we have 100% participation), we will ask families for a suggested donation (to be determined).

We are also asking all families if anyone has a business or business contacts that we can use for donations for any of our events.  We welcome all recommendations.

With your help, commitment and positive energy, our 8th graders and families will have a fantastic year!

Please reach out to us with any ideas or questions to bvms8th@gmail.com and look out for our updates in the BVMS newsletter Bulldog Blast every Sunday at 6pm, on our Instagram page @bvmsbulldogs, Facebook page and 8th Grade Corner.

We look forward to seeing you at the 8th grade parent social on Oct 1st at 5pm.

Your BVMS Class of 2021 Graduation Committee,

Elizabeth Nejad, Marnie Prisand, Nathan Kruger, Jackie Kruger, Laura Abramov, Jena Frankel, Romi Azevedo, Danielle Lieber, Christina Romani, Michelle Sarraf, Kelli Schatz & Lorraine Eastman

8TH GRADE STUDENTS!!!

BE A PART OF "ROCK OF AGES"

Don't Stop Believin!

Hey Class of 2021,

Your 8th grade committee is raising money to make your graduation week a special time for you. We are in the process of planning those activities that we are fundraising for. Now, you get to be part of the process!

The Bourbon Room in Hollywood is filming a concert with the Rock of Ages cast. During filming they are going to customize the concert so that we have a special concert designed for Beverly Vista Middle School. They are also going to add clips of our 8th graders, that's you, singing to "Don't Stop Believin'."

We are then going to make the entire concert available to Beverly Vista families. If you want to be part of the video and and go down in Beverly Vista Middle School history, just follow the directions below.

Your parents will be sent information about the actual video when it is ready to be released after the Holiday break. Please see below for instructions. Please note that any inappropriate behavior in recordings may result in loss of privileges for 8th grade activities at the end of the school year.

The deadline for submitting the video with vocals is Friday, November 20th. Please send to bvms8th@gmail.com.

Instructions for your video

Attached to this email is an mp3 of your guide track for “Don’t Stop Believin’”

  • The vocal melody is played throughout to help the singer through the song, played on a midi instrument.
  • There are also vocal count-ins to help keep everyone on the same page.

Lyrics with count-ins map:

  — 4 bar intro —

(count in: 1, 2, 3, 4)
Just a small town girl
living’ in a lonely world
she took the midnight train going anywhere
Just a city boy
born and raised in south Detroit
he took the midnight train going anywhere

— 8 bar interlude!—

(count in: 1, 2, 3, 4)
A singer in a smoky room
A smell of wine and cheap perfume
For a smile they can share the night
It goes on and on, and on, and on\

(count in: 1, 2, 3, 4)
Strangers waiting
Up and down the boulevard, their
Shadows searching in the night

Streetlight people
Living just to find emotion
Hiding somewhere in the night

(count in: 2, 3, 4)
Workin’ hard to get my fill
Everybody wants a thrill
Payin’ anything to roll the dice
just one more time

Some will win
Some will lose
Some were born to sing the blues
Oh the movie never ends, it goes
On and on and on and on!

(count in:  2, 3, 4)
Strangers waiting
Up and down the boulevard, their
Shadows searching in the night

Streetlight people
Living just to find emotion
Hiding somewhere in the night

—  8 bar interlude!

(count in: 1, 2, 3, 4)
Don’t stop believin’ hold on to that feelin’
Streetlight people!

Don’t stop believin’ hold on to that feelin’
Streetlight people!

(a capella section —keep singing, but no clapping, please!)

Don’t stop believin’ hold on to that feelin’
Streetlight people!

(accompaniment back in!)

Don’t stop believin’ hold on to that feelin’
Streetlight people!

Don’t Stop!

Audio tips
  • Use  Headphones or in-ear monitors while recording
  • Whatever device you use to record your voice, make sure it is NOT picking up your guide track —it’s essential that the only audio received is of your voice and your voice only
  • This also means that the room you are in must be pretty quiet, preferably without any echo in the room (bathrooms are not ideal for audio quality!)

Video tips
  • Make sure you record a video of yourself as you sing
  • Please record videos in LANDSCAPE mode, rather than portrait
  • Feel free to rock out!! But do refrain from clapping throughout, for sound purposes!
