8TH GRADE STUDENTS!!!
BE A PART OF "ROCK OF AGES"
Don't Stop Believin!
Hey Class of 2021,
Your 8th grade committee is raising money to make your graduation week a special time for you. We are in the process of planning those activities that we are fundraising for. Now, you get to be part of the process!
The Bourbon Room in Hollywood is filming a concert with the Rock of Ages cast. During filming they are going to customize the concert so that we have a special concert designed for Beverly Vista Middle School. They are also going to add clips of our 8th graders, that's you, singing to "Don't Stop Believin'."
We are then going to make the entire concert available to Beverly Vista families. If you want to be part of the video and and go down in Beverly Vista Middle School history, just follow the directions below.
Your parents will be sent information about the actual video when it is ready to be released after the Holiday break. Please see below for instructions. Please note that any inappropriate behavior in recordings may result in loss of privileges for 8th grade activities at the end of the school year.
The deadline for submitting the video with vocals is Friday, November 20th. Please send to bvms8th@gmail.com.

Lyrics with count-ins map:
— 4 bar intro —
(count in: 1, 2, 3, 4)
Just a small town girl
living’ in a lonely world
she took the midnight train going anywhere
Just a city boy
born and raised in south Detroit
he took the midnight train going anywhere
— 8 bar interlude!—
(count in: 1, 2, 3, 4)
A singer in a smoky room
A smell of wine and cheap perfume
For a smile they can share the night
It goes on and on, and on, and on\
(count in: 1, 2, 3, 4)
Strangers waiting
Up and down the boulevard, their
Shadows searching in the night
Streetlight people
Living just to find emotion
Hiding somewhere in the night
(count in: 2, 3, 4)
Workin’ hard to get my fill
Everybody wants a thrill
Payin’ anything to roll the dice
just one more time
Some will win
Some will lose
Some were born to sing the blues
Oh the movie never ends, it goes
On and on and on and on!
(count in: 2, 3, 4)
Strangers waiting
Up and down the boulevard, their
Shadows searching in the night
Streetlight people
Living just to find emotion
Hiding somewhere in the night
— 8 bar interlude!
(count in: 1, 2, 3, 4)
Don’t stop believin’ hold on to that feelin’
Streetlight people!
Don’t stop believin’ hold on to that feelin’
Streetlight people!
(a capella section —keep singing, but no clapping, please!)
Don’t stop believin’ hold on to that feelin’
Streetlight people!
(accompaniment back in!)
Don’t stop believin’ hold on to that feelin’
Streetlight people!
Don’t Stop!
Audio tips
- Use Headphones or in-ear monitors while recording
- Whatever device you use to record your voice, make sure it is NOT picking up your guide track —it’s essential that the only audio received is of your voice and your voice only
- This also means that the room you are in must be pretty quiet, preferably without any echo in the room (bathrooms are not ideal for audio quality!)
Video tips
- Make sure you record a video of yourself as you sing
- Please record videos in LANDSCAPE mode, rather than portrait
- Feel free to rock out!! But do refrain from clapping throughout, for sound purposes!
