BVMS Student Clubs
The BVMS PTA is excited to sponsor 20 outstanding opportunities for students each week! We encourage all students to take advantage of these enriching activities.
Making Connections is one of our Four Core Values and getting involved in our clubs is a great way to make those connections happen!
Book Club - The Beverly Vista Middle School Book Club is a weekly opportunity for students at all grade levels and areas of interest to get together in a student-led setting and discuss books, reading, and the wider world of literature. In the BVMS Book Club students are encouraged to make their literary selections and share their love of reading everything from Graphic Novels to Fantasy, to Classics. We will be meeting on Wednesdays at lunch in the library
CARE Club - Anyone and everyone is welcome to join this club where we engage in arts and crafts! It is an opportunity for students to have fun while meeting someone new and make connections! Thursdays at lunch on the Reading Green
Chess Club - The Beverly Vista Middle School Chess Club is a weekly opportunity for students of all grades and all skill levels to play chess, master new strategies, and compete against friends. Chess Club is an opportunity to hang out with friends in the library and play games against one another. We will be meeting on Mondays at lunch in the library
Color Guard - Students will learn technical and performance skills in color guard. Understanding musical and performance needs. They will perform with the Drumline for Pep Rallies to integrate the connection of the Marching Band and Color Guard. Thursdays at lunch B110
Dance Club - Students collaborate to create and perform dance choreography. Students will participate in field trips to see professional performance and discuss the importance of training for a career in the dance world. Mondays during lunch in the Dance Studio (B110)
Debate Club - The Beverly Vista Debate Club is a competitive team that participates in debate and speech tournaments. Middle school debate is about learning the basic skills of public speaking, and making new friends! Debaters must be able to compete online on Saturdays, usually once per month, and tournaments usually runs from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The BV Debate Club prepares students to join the team at BHHS in ninth grade. (Team captains at BHHS include full scholarship freshmen starting this fall at the Cornell and Carnegie Mellon universities.) Join the Debate Club and become a smarter and more articulate Bulldog! Dodgeball Club - Participants learn fundamental skills and teamwork through fun games, practice sessions, and fitness activities. The club also promotes sportsmanship, leadership, and conflict resolution, helping students grow both physically and socially. Thursdays at lunch in the Fitness Room
Fitness Club - The Beverly Vista Middle School Fitness Club allows students to improve their overall health and wellness by participating in fitness games, strength training, and cardiovascular activities. Students will learn a variety of ways to reach individual fitness goals. We will be meeting on Thursdays at lunch in the Fitness Room
Hispanic Heritage Club - Welcomes all students who have an interest in learning and celebrating the diverse cultures of Spanish-speaking countries. Throughout the year we celebrate and recognize different holidays that exist in the Hispanic community. As well as bring awareness of the many iconic Hispanics who have contributed to the arts, sciences, and politics in and out of the U.S.A. Fridays during lunch in room E210
Improv Dogs - Yes, and...! Improv Dogs is the hilarious BVMS improv comedy troupe! We meet to play, laugh, and sharpen our improv skills. A few times a year, we hit the stage to perform for the student body, bringing spontaneous comedy to life. Most importantly, we bond through humor and creativity! Wednesdays at lunch C109
Jazz Club - Students have the opportunity to experience and learn about jazz music while enjoying their lunch. Students will watch and listen to videos and albums of various artists and styles which are followed by brief and casual discussions. Anyone who has experience playing an instrument is also welcome to learn how to improvise and play jazz standards. Once the students are prepared, they will perform in jazz combos during lunch. Jewish Heritage Club - The Jewish Heritage Club is a space to explore the rich traditions, history, and culture of Judaism! Through engaging activities, discussions, and food, we celebrate our heritage while fostering friendship and community. We will be learning about the upcoming holidays! Fridays during lunch in room C211
Literary Club - This club is for those who love to write creatively and would like to become a published writer. Students submit stories, poems, and/or plays to the Word Weavers publication.

Mock Trial Club - The Beverly Vista Mock Trial team is the perfect place for students interested in law, acting, or public speaking. Bulldogs involved in the club will have the opportunity to demonstrate their writing, debating, and critical thinking skills, and will compete annually against middle schools across Southern California. Learn all about trials, court, and being a lawyer with weekly games, guest speakers, and activities every Mondays at lunch in room C202.
Newspaper Club - This club is for those who like to write short informational pieces. Students write articles for the student newspaper focused on school events, editorials, hard news, features, entertainment, cooking, book reviews, interviews, and culture. Mondays at lunch in room D305
Science Club - The Science Club will go on field trips that include visits to the Cabrillo Marine Center and La Brea Tar Pits, as well as participate in a beach cleanup. During lunchtime, we will work on various projects. We will be meeting on Wednesdays at lunch in room E203
Studio Ghibli Film Club - Studio Ghibli club is a place where any and all who love Japanese animation (anime), and specifically Studio Ghibli movies, can watch and discuss timeless films such as: Spirited Away, My Neighbor Totoro, Ponyo, Howl's Moving Castle and many more. If you love anime and enjoy Studio Ghibli movies, then this is the club for you! We meet every week at lunch on Wednesdays in room E202.
Techsperts - Techsperts help students and staff with technology questions. A Techspert must be interested in technology, ready to help, and willing to persevere until each problem is solved. Techsperts can earn community service hours for their assistance. Tuesdays at lunch D150
Trading Card Game Club - Students play One Piece, Magic, Uno and other card games. They are also teaching other students who are interested but do not know how to play. Students can bring their own Trading Cards or use Cards provided by the club. Mondays-Fridays at lunch B109
W.E.B. Club - Where Everybody Belongs! Members of the 8th-grade class are trained to act as positive role models, motivators, leaders, and teachers who guide the 6th-graders to discover what it takes to be successful in middle school. Thursdays at lunch in room D301
